Davis weather.

Yep, it's some wonderful Davis fog.  Almost forgot about that...

Such a tempting candy.

Image says it all.

Davis....

Barely visible through the notch there is Davis, right in the middle of the valley - also visible should be the mountains on the other side - the Sierra(s?).

It's-it

Couldn't pass this up!

Nice job if you can get it

The store dog at the avid reader.

Dave's masterwork

Dave's master sculpture.

Bouldering

If I was going to carry these darn climbing shoes the whole time, I was definitely going to find something to use them on..... Behold NO SKIING, my new V0 bouldering problem...

Climbable?

Spent most of my time on the ridge wondering if this cliff was climbable / accessible. On closer inspection, probably climbable, with a reasonable route to the base, but little dangerous for a solo attempt. I think the buzzard was hoping I'd try...

The canyon

The trail runs up this valley / canyon.

Hiking

Went for a hike in cold canyon today - really fun, lots more hilly than I'd initially expected. Got water out of this little pond - didn't really need it but it was fun to test my water filter - also needed the water for the stove testing to follow.

En route

Brought my climbing shoes along and was looking around for anything to play on. Found this rock, but it was pretty shady, and with no spotter or pad or protection, I figured I'd let discetion be the better part of valor.

Stove test.

Took advantage of the hike to test the stove. Oh and a shot of what I was actually eating.

Another view

Another view from the hike.

Highest point

Great view from the highest point. And I remembered to smile...

Car

I've always liked this car. Suppose they're all too old now to be at all reliable.

Funny poster

I like this. Haven't seen it lately - wonder if it got killed for being sexist?

Action figure.

Amusing - this guy is a friend of my friend Njord.

Amusing packaging

Need to try these sometime - the packaging is fun.

Cool dog sculptures

These are along the herbbelt in Davis. Hopefully the dewdrop on the dog's mouth on the trike is visible.

Fwd: Iowa

University of Iowa - this is the old Capitol of Iowa.  Right in the middle of the undergrad campus now.  If Rochester was isolated, Iowa is probably twice as far from any big city.  Sadly, it's a great residency...

Fwd: Largest ear of corn

Out in the background, there's the world's largest ear of corn - granted, it's a water tower painted like an ear, but...  (oh, this is in Rochester, MN)

Fwd: Apartment Building

One of the two apartment buildings in Rocherster, MN - Big city living, baby!!!!

Window Washing

Just found this to be funny - I guess someone has to wash the windows on the airplane...

Mayo

More building

Mayo Medical School

I guess this is a small ancillary building, but it amused me to think it's the entire school

Mayo Clinic

Mayo Now that's a skyway - 5 levels?

Nice presents

Stuff I can take wherever I go.

My very nice Bed in Chicago after my trip to Iowa... Luckily I managed to keep up on the latest news about Britney since CNN Airport kept waking me up with the story every 2 hours...

More nice O'Hare bedding

Caribou Coffee @ Mayo

Good Coffee, y'all

Mayo

Marble, yep, we got it.

Old School

Forget the name of the building, but this is the old-fashioned Mayo building - just libraries and such these days.

Mayo Clinic

Just more Mayo

Starbucks

Even Rochester has Starbucks!

Old Picture

This is the original Starbucks in Seattle. So yeah, I'm that guy who goes around taking photos of stuff like that. By the way, I also visted the original Seattle's Best store... Oh, and Starbucks now owns that chain. Check the intertron if you don't believe me.

Matching Sweaters

Poor dogs - hopefully they got an Einstein's dog bagel as a reward for being so obnoxiously matching...

The dome at Hopkins

So apparently Jesus is a big fan of Johns Hopkins, since He has a 10 foot statue inside their big dome place.

Navy Football?

Hmmm - is having this sign on the department head's door a good sign or a bad one? Especially since today's the Army-Navy game...
